Our state-of-the-art Data Center is designed for maximum uptime, scalability,
performance and security.
Power to the IDC is provided by redundant,
conditioned power at 200 watts per square foot. The facility receives
13.8 kilovolt power feeds from separate transformers and poles.
Immediate backup power is supplied by fully redundant APC UPS Systems.
Further power backup is provided by multi-megawatt diesel generators
that automatically provide power coverage within 8 seconds of a power
failure.
To ensure the sensitive infrastructure and
equipment within the facility maintains a stable temperature, the IDC
is N+1 configured with multi redundant, 20 Ton Liebert HVAC systems.
In addition to maintaining a consistent
temperature, the IDC is also equipped with state-of-the-art fire
suppression systems. The primary system is an FM-200 inert gas structure
and is backed up with a dry-pipe/dry-charged system designed to isolate
the event and leave unaffected systems untouched.
BGP-4 and OSPF based network infrastructure
affords direct connections to more than 576 optical fibers that
terminate within the IDC. The IDC owns and maintains gigabit network
transit to multiple Tier-1 network providers, provides direct
fiber-to-cabinet Ethernet connectivity and is also the location for many
other network providers MegaPOP's.
The IDC can support bandwidth needs from 1
mbps to OC-x. Connectivity is provided by multiple carriers enabling
maximum bandwidth with 0-mile local loops and fewer hops to the
internet. Connectivity partners include: NEESCom, Conversant,
Yipes and C2C Fiber
The fully redundant network is built on Cisco
Switches, multiple Cisco Edge Routers and Extreme Network Core Routers
and Switches for maximum uptime and failover protection at every point
in the facility.
Extreme Networks BlackDiamond core switches offer
full redundancy plus a 168 gigabit per second non-blocking backplane to
ensure fast throughput of IP addresses. This ensure an N+1
fault-tolerance and high availability throughout the network.
Edge Switches BlackDiamond 6808's - Dual Homed to
DC5-Branch 1/DC5-Branch 2 ESRP providing Edge Switch redundancy and
default gateway redundancy for servers.
All of our servers are housed in environmentally
controlled, locked and secure cabinets. All the server hardware we offer is
from the IBM x-Series family of servers. These are high-quality servers
designed to provide maximum uptime, performance and scalability. All our
servers are configured with Intel Pentium 4 or Xeon Processors,
PC2100 ECC DDR SDRAM and Hardware RAID for maximum data protection.
All our shared servers are run on the RedHat Operating System
and include the Appies Website Manager Software. For details about available dedicated servers, you can visit appieshost.com.
The nerve center of the IDC is the Network
Operations Center [NOC]. The NOC staff employs a diverse set of network,
server, application and monitoring tools. The NOC team is staffed 24x7
and is tasked with all aspects of customer support
including:
- 24x7 network and facilities monitoring
- Change management
- Security monitoring and protocols
- Customer access and entry
- Outage scheduling
- Remote hand and eyes support
- And much more.
The IDC is N+1 secure with electronic key cards,
multi-stage entrances, man traps and 24x7 video surveillance. The
closed-circuit surveillance system constantly monitors the IDC and video
tapes are archived and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure procedural
consistency.
Access to the IDC is limited to authorized staff
and customers only. This access list is regularly reviewed to ensure
that it contains only authorized personnel. Visitors cannot gain access
to the IDC without showing proper identification that must match the documentation that is kept in our
secure files.
